Whyze collects the following types of data to provide and improve our service:
Account Data
- Pseudonymous account identifier: A unique identifier that represents your account without revealing your personal identity
- Optional profile basics: If you choose to provide, we may collect age range, country, or gender for statistics and onboarding purposes
Content and Activity
- Questions and answers: The questions you create and the answers you provide
- Votes and interactions: Your votes on questions and other interactions within the app
- Favorites and preferences: Questions you favorite, content you hide, and your topic preferences
- Whyze Insight data: If you use the Insight/lens feature, we collect interaction data related to that feature
Technical Data
- Device token: For sending push notifications (if you enable them)
- App analytics: Anonymous usage data to improve app performance and user experience
- App events: Technical events related to app functionality and troubleshooting
Purchase Data
- Subscription status: If you subscribe, we store your subscription status and purchase history
How We Use Your Data
We use your data for the following purposes:
- App functionality: To provide core features like asking questions, answering, and voting
- Aggregate statistics: To generate insights and statistics about community responses
- Moderation and safety: To maintain a safe community and enforce our guidelines
- Notifications: To send push notifications if you enable them
- Product analytics: To understand how people use Whyze and improve the app
- Purchases and subscriptions: To process subscriptions and provide related services
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with service providers only as necessary to operate our service:
- Supabase: Our database and backend infrastructure provider
- Firebase/FCM: For push notification delivery
- RevenueCat: For subscription and purchase management (if applicable)
- App stores: For subscription billing through Apple App Store or Google Play (if applicable)
These service providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your data to provide services to us.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time. When you delete your account:
- Your account is locked immediately
- You have a 15-day recovery period to cancel deletion
- After 15 days, your account data is permanently deleted
- Some data may remain in anonymized or aggregate form (see Delete Account page for details)
Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
